Keyboard shortcuts

ARGUS has a small set of fixed shortcuts that are always active, and a much larger set of bindable shortcuts that you configure per surface in Input controls. This page lists the fixed ones and points at the rest.

Fixed shortcuts don’t fire while a text input, textarea or select has focus. That’s so typing the letter / in a search box doesn’t open the global search.

Global

KeysAction
/Open global search
EscClose the current drawer, modal or menu
?Open the keyboard-shortcut overlay
Ctrl + KCommand palette (dashboard only)

These are the only ARGUS shortcuts that work everywhere in the app.

Per-surface shortcuts are bindable

The majority of ARGUS shortcuts — DRC stick keys, map controls, tile cycling, PTT, HUD toggles — are not hard-coded. They are bindable through Input controls, which merges keyboard, gamepad and HOTAS inputs into a single mapping layer.

This means the list below describes the default mapping profile shipped with ARGUS. If you, or your org admin, edit the profile, your shortcuts may differ. Open the Input controls page to see the currently active mapping for any surface.

Operation console

KeysAction
Alt + ,Open settings drawer (aspirational — not wired yet)
Alt + TFocus the tile grid
Alt + MToggle master-caution panel
GGrab DRC authority (prompts confirmation)
SpacePTT — hold to transmit

Alt+, is listed in the default profile but the destination drawer is not yet implemented. It currently no-ops and the HUD shows a “coming soon” toast.

Map

The map is primarily mouse-driven. In both 2D and the Cesium 3D view:

Input2D3D
Left-click dragPanPan
Right-click dragRotate camera
Middle-click dragTilt camera
Scroll wheelZoomZoom
2 / 3Switch to 2D / 3DSame
FFrame selected assetSame
Shift + click on assetCentre map + followSame

Keyboard-only users can pan with arrow keys once the map has focus and zoom with + / -.

Drone stream tile

When a stream tile has focus:

KeysAction
]Cycle to next tile binding (if bound)
[Cycle to previous tile binding (if bound)
FToggle fullscreen
RStart / stop recording (commander-only)
1..4Select simulcast quality layer

The cycle bindings only operate if you set them in Input controls; by default they’re enabled so most operators don’t notice.

DRC

All DRC bindings are unbound by default. This is intentional — DRC is a safety-critical surface and we would rather have operators explicitly bind their preferred keys / sticks than inherit a mapping that may not match their hardware.

Configure them from Input controls → DRC. Typical bindings:

  • Throttle / Yaw / Pitch / Roll — gamepad sticks are usual, but WASDQE on keyboard is supported.
  • Takeoff / Land / RTH — dedicated buttons or chord keys.
  • Gimbal pitch / Zoom — usually on triggers or the scroll wheel.

DRC bindings are per-user and persist across ops.

Shortcut overlay

Pressing ? anywhere in the app opens an overlay that lists the active bindings for the surface you are on. The overlay is live — if Input controls changes mid-session, the overlay reflects it. Press Esc or ? again to dismiss.
